ePortfolio: My Transformation

Over the course of the semester, there have been many ups and downs.  When something was not turning out the way I would like, I would have to remind myself that it is okay and I can restart.  Starting over is never a bad thing and taking out parts of other papers made it sound and flow better.  I transformed with my writing by trying new things and not being afraid to try something new.  Since it might turn out better than I thought it would.

When starting our first paper on Christo’s Valley Curtain I was nervous as doing a summary, especially the first paper we are doing for this class, and taking my voice out of it can be difficult some times.  I really liked that we watched the video and had to write the summary based on what we saw or heard.  Also that it was a film we could watch at home if we needed to watch it again and remember certain parts that were happening and when.  I kept wanting to add in what I thought someone was thinking or feeling based on how they were reacting so I kept having to make sure that I changed that and reword it based on what really happened.  Once I got myself in the right mindset of not adding my opinion, it was not as hard as I thought it was going to be.  Writing a paper on something that I watched instead of something that I read was nice and I enjoyed it.  Mainly because I am more of a visual learner and because it was something new that I was able to try.  My conclusion however, it more analytic than it should have been.  Looking back I would have definitely changed that but I am proud of the work that I turned in.

Another project that I enjoyed and challenged me what the multimodal project.  My topic that I picked was Fashion Over Time.  When doing this and coming up with an idea I was unsure exactly where I wanted to take the audience and how I wanted to do it.  It was my first time doing this type of project.  The YouTube editor was easy and I was able to do what I wanted with it.  As I was doing it and it was getting closer to the day it was due, I did not like what I had and decided that I was going to start over.  Starting completely over was new for me, especially a couple days before it was due.  I always wanted to try and fix what I had but I am glad that I decided to start fresh.  I feel that it was the best idea for my project and I like the way it turned out.  It defiantly challenged me by not only doing something I never did before but by starting over.  I learned to be more open minded about my work and to not be afraid to start over and go in a different direction if need be.  I liked being able to put myself and my family into my work and making it personal.  It made me want to work on it and to get it done since I was putting myself and that I enjoyed my topic that I was doing it on.

Overall, there were multiple projects that pushed me and forced me to go out of my comfort zone.  By doing this, you learn more about what you are doing and yourself.  I learned that not matter how many struggles and downs you go through, there will always be an up side that can be better than you imagined it could.  Just have to remember to think positive and to believe in yourself.  Being proud and trusting yourself is all you can do and just know that it will pass by and things will improve.
